Slippery roadway crash caused closure of New Fairfield road
NEW FAIRFIELD — Icy roadway conditions led to an overnight crash and hours-long closure of Saw Mill Road Tuesday morning.
The road was closed for nearly seven hours after a vehicle lost control and struck a utility pole before flipping on its driver’s side around 12:05 a.m.
The collision caused the pole to snap, bringing wires down. It is unclear whether anyone was injured in the crash.
Slippery conditions resulting from Tuesday night’s cold temperatures and drizzle are believed to have contributed to the crash, according to the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department.
Saw Mill Road reopened to traffic around 6:45 a.m.
