Police: Cocaine, fentanyl seized in Danbury drug bust
DANBURY — A city man was found with fentanyl and cocaine when investigators served a search-and-seizure warrant at his apartment Tuesday afternoon following an investigation into drug sales in the area, police said.
Detective Lt. Mark Williams said investigators served the warrant for 45-year-old Jose Adames after he became a person of interest following several complaints related to illegal drug dealing within the city.
Soon after authorities launched their investigation, Williams said, officers saw Adames engage in several suspected drug transactions and applied for a warrant.
While waiting to serve the warrant around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, investigators saw Adames make a suspected drug deal with a man later identified as a 54-year-old New Fairfield resident.
Officers stopped the New Fairfield man shortly after witnessing the transaction and confirmed the man was in possession of illegally purchased narcotics, Williams said. He was released on a written promise to appear on a possession of a controlled substance charge.
When investigators served the warrant, Adames was found in possession of fentanyl, cocaine and Suboxone, Williams said.
Adames, of Division Street, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, sale of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $50,000.
