NEW MILFORD — The school district has hired Megan Dwyer as the high school’s new interim assistant principal, according to a press release.

The board voted Tuesday night to approve her appointment during a regular meeting. Dwyer is expected to start on January 3, following the district’s winter break. Her salary will be about $124,000 prorated to her start date, meeting minutes show.

New Milford High School’s previous assistant principal, Linda Scoralick, recently took on a new role as Schaghticoke Middle School interim principal after Chris Longo stepped down to take a position in another district.

Dwyer comes to New Milford from Waterbury, where she worked at Holy Cross High School as the Director of Student Activities for almost a decade and as a social studies teacher between 2010 and 2018.

Dwyer earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Central CT State University. She is currently pursuing her doctorate there, as well.

“It was clear from her interviews that she is enthusiastic about the students, staff and community and that she will do whatever it takes to ensure that students' needs are met,” Superintendent Alisha DiCorpo said in a statement.

“Ms. Dwyer shared her ongoing commitment to her own continued growth and development which will be an asset to the talented team of administrators and teaching staff. We look forward to working with her.”
