Man in critical condition after Danbury shooting
DANBURY — Police are investigating a Tuesday night shooting on Rowan Street that sent one person to the hospital.
A man in his 20s was found “suffering from gunshot wounds in a nearby yard,” according to the Danbury Police Department.
He was taken to Danbury Hospital and is in critical condition. Police did not identify the victim.
Police did not say whether they have any suspects or provide any further information about the shooting. Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour said “It’s too early in the investigation to determine if there is a connection to any past incidents,” declining to comment further.
Mayor Dean Esposito declined to comment, citing the ongoing investigation. But he said he’s been in “constant contact” with the chief.
“The last report I got is the chief has been focusing on apprehending the assailant,” he said.
Irving Fox, one of Danbury’s two Ward 1 city councilmen, said Wednesday morning that he didn’t have any information on the shooting.
The city’s other Ward 1 councilman, Micheal Masi, was not immediately available for comment.
