Police: 1 car stolen, 8 burglarized in Ridgefield spree

- By Peter Yankowski

RIDGEFIELD — Police are reminding residents to lock their cars and remove keys and valuables after a vehicle was stolen and several others were broken into last weekend.

Ridgefield police said the car, a blue 2015 Audi A4 2.0T, was taken from a driveway between 3:50 and 6 a.m. Sunday morning.

“In a separate incident, approximately eight vehicles were entered on Soundview Road,” Ridgefield police Capt. Jeff Raines said in a statement on Thursday.

A laptop and charger were taken before the homeowner “scared off” the burglar, Raines said.

Raines said the Soundview Road incident occurred within the same time frame. The suspects were described as two juveniles who used a small SUV, Raines said in an email.

Police said the two incidents appear to be connected. In both instances, the vehicles were not secured, according to police.

“We urge everyone to be diligent with securing your vehicles, removing your keys and personal effects,” the statement from police said.

Ridgefield police are asking anyone with information about the incidents call the detective bureau at 203-431-2794, or confidential tips may be left at 203-431-2345.
