Fire officials: Tow truck driver crashed into tree
BROOKFIELD — There were no serious injuries reported when a tow truck driver crashed into a tree Friday morning in an area of town described by officials as “accident-prone.”
Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company officials said crews responded to Route 25 and White Pine Drive around 3:30 a.m. for a reported crash.
Snow had been falling heavily across the state since around midnight. The National Weather Service and police and fire departments across the state urged residents to stay off the roads, with hazardous travel expected.
Arriving units found a flat-bed tow truck that crashed into a tree off the road. Officials said the driver declined treatment by medics at the scene.
Firefighters cleared fluid leaks on the road caused by the crash. Crews returned to service around 4:15 a.m.
“Please stay off the roads and let the Brookfield Public Works do their job,” fire officials said.
