GIRLS INDOOR TRACK: 20 CIAC ATHLETES TO WATCH

Olivia Birney, Simsbury, Sr.: In the 2021 outdoor season at the State Open won the 800 (2:11.82) and 1,600 (4:50.96) and at Class L won the 800 (2:15.76) and 1,600 (4:53.28). This indoor season at the James Barber Invitation­al she won the 1,000 (3:09.40).

Erin Brennan, Sheehan, Sr.: During 2021 outdoor season at the State Open she was second in both the pole vault (10-6) and in the long jump (17-6.5). At a recent SCC Developmen­tal meet she won the pole vault (10-0) and at the Hillhouse Invitation­al she placed second in long jump (17-1).

Mairead Clas, Darien, Sr.: This indoor season at the Hillhouse Invitation­al she won the 1,000 (3:09.71) and at the James Barber Invitation­al she won the 1,600 (5:19.90). Last outdoor season she placed third in 1,600 (5:11.41) and fourth in the 800 (2:22.45).

Esme Daplyn, Greenwich Sr.: In this indoor season at the North Shore High School Invitation­al she placed second in 600 (1:40.27) and at the Elm City Coaches meet in the L/LL division she won the 1,000 (3:05.38).

D’Jior Delisser, Bloomfield, Sr.: This indoor season at Hillhouse Invitation­al she finished third in the 55 (7.56) and won the high jump (5-6). In the 2021 outdoor season, she was second in Class S in the 100 (12.86) and won the high jump (5-4).

Molly Harding, Glastonbur­y, Sr.: This indoor season at the James Barber Invitation­al she won the 300 (41.68) and at the Elm City Coaches meet she won the 600 (1:40.24) in the Class LL/L division.

Jacqueline Izzo, Southingto­n, Sr.: During the indoor season at the Ocean Breeze Freedom Games she placed fourth in the 1,600 (5:08.45) and at the Bob Saulsberry Invitation­al she won the 1,000 (3:07.06).

Audrey Kozak, Shelton, Jr.: At a recent SCC Developmen­tal meet she won the long jump (16-6), the high jump (5-2, school record), and was third in the 55 dash (7.63, school record).

Anichka Malachi, New Milford, Sr.: During this indoor season at a SCC Developmen­tal meet she won the long jump (17-11.75). In the 2021 outdoor season at the State Open she placed fourth in the long jump (1800.25). Has committed to run track at Western Michigan.

Anna Omelchenko, Wilbur Cross, Sr.: This indoor season at the High School Trials meet she won the 800 (2:34.87) and at a SCC Developmen­tal meet she placed second in the 3,200 (11:55.78).

Marina Perry, Rocky Hill, Sr.: At recent Elm City Coaches meet she won the shot put (39-2). In the 2021 outdoor season at the State Open she placed fifth in the shot put (35-3.5).

Stephani Queiroz, Danbury, Sr.: This indoor season at the North Shore High School Invitation­al she finished third in the 3,000 (10:49.87). Last outdoor season she was fourth at State Open in the 3,200 (11:17.63).

Rachel St. Germain, Somers, Sr.: During the 2021 outdoor season at Class S she won the 1,600 (5:03.92) and 3,200 (10:58.46). This indoor season she won the 3,000 (9:55.63) at the U.S. Air Force Hispanic Games and the 3,200 (11:09.93) at the Joe Sinicrope Invitation­al.

Katherine Sanderson, Hall, Sr.: This indoor season she was fourth in the 3,000 (10:23.06) at the U.S. Air Force Hispanic Games and at the Hillhouse Holiday Invitation­al she placed second in the 1,600 (5:21.70).

Anna-Sasha Jones, Weaver, Sr.: This indoor season she won both the 55 (7.40) and 300 (42.14) at the Elm City Coaches meet in the M/S division. In the 2021 outdoor season at Class S she won the 100 (12.82) and was second in the 200 (26.28).

Mariella Schweitzer, Barlow, Sr.: In the 2021 outdoor season she won the 100 hurdles (14.52) and the 300 hurdles in a meet-record 43.18 at the State Open. At Class MM, she won the 300 hurdles in a meet-record 43.28, won the 100 hurdles (14.86) and was second in the long jump (17-11.25). Also won the CIAC Heptathlon (3,975 points). Holds school records for the long jump, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. This indoor season at a recent SWC developmen­tal meet she won the 55 hurdles (8.92).

Alanna Smith, Danbury, Sr.: In the 2021 outdoor season she was named the GameTimeCT All-State Player of the Year after winning the 100 (12.03), 200 (24.49) and 400 (56.78) at the State Open. At Class LL she won the 200 in a meet-record 24.85, the 100 (12.25) and was second in the 400 (59.24). Ran a 200 PR/school record in 24.21 at the New York Showcase and 100 (11.83). This indoor season at the North Shore High School Invitation­al she won the 300 (38.86) and 55 (7.12).

Tia Stapleton, Fairfield Ludlowe, Jr.: This indoor season at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic she won the high jump (5-5.5) and at a FCIAC qualifying meet she won the long jump (16-2.5).

Francine Stevens, Staples, Jr.: During the 2021 outdoor season at the State Open she was third in the 100 (12.37) and second in the 200 (25.12) and at Class LL she finished second in the 100 (12.29) and second in the 200 (25.22). This indoor season she was fourth in the 55 (7.42) at the Energice Coaches Hall of Fame Invitation­al.

Ellison Weiner, Weston, Sr.: In the 2021 outdoor season she won the pole vault at Class M (11-6) and at the State Open she was second (11-0). This indoor season at the Coaches Saint Invitation­al she placed fourth in the pole vault (10-6).
