Rep. Jahana Hayes tests positive for COVID

U.S. Rep. Jahana Hayes, D-5, has tested positive for COVID-19, according to her Twitter account Thursday night.

The first-term congresswo­man tested positive after taking a routine test before traveling. She is not experienci­ng symptoms, but a doctor has advised her to quarantine, her office said at 10 p.m. Thursday.

Hayes is fully vaccinated and has received a booster, her office added.

“She continues to encourage all to take the necessary precaution­s to keep our communitie­s safe,” her office said.

This is her second time testing postive for COVID, the first being in late September 2020. At the time, she said she was experienci­ng respirator­y symptoms.

Hayes represents the 5th District, which is the western part of the state and includes Danbury, Litchfield and New Britain, as well as several other municipali­ties.
