Rep. Jahana Hayes tests positive for COVID
U.S. Rep. Jahana Hayes, D-5, has tested positive for COVID-19, according to her Twitter account Thursday night.
The first-term congresswoman tested positive after taking a routine test before traveling. She is not experiencing symptoms, but a doctor has advised her to quarantine, her office said at 10 p.m. Thursday.
Hayes is fully vaccinated and has received a booster, her office added.
“She continues to encourage all to take the necessary precautions to keep our communities safe,” her office said.
This is her second time testing postive for COVID, the first being in late September 2020. At the time, she said she was experiencing respiratory symptoms.
Hayes represents the 5th District, which is the western part of the state and includes Danbury, Litchfield and New Britain, as well as several other municipalities.
