Paulo Rodrigues Vieira, 78, of Danbury, husband of Maria (Melo) Vieira, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at his home.

Mr. Vieira was born in Azores, Portugal, June

21, 1943, a son of the late Maximinio Pereira and Maria Noemia (Rodrigues) Vieira. He attended school in Portugal and served in the Portuguese military.

A resident of Danbury for the past 48 years coming from Azores, Portugal.

Mr. Vieira was a retired employee of the Barden Corporatio­n, a member of the Portuguese Cultural Center, Belenenses Sports Soccer Team, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish of Danbury.

In addition to his wife of fifty-five years, Mr. Vieira is survived by a son, David P. (Elisabet) Vieira; a daughter, Noemia (Paul) Giglio; three brothers, Msgr. Victor M. Vieira, David R. (Tina) Vieira, Jose R. (Graca) Vieira; a sister, Estrela Vieira(Jamie) Rahm; four grandchild­ren, Victor M. P. Vieira, Nicholas A. Vieira, Mikayla Giglio, and Lucas C. Vieira.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, January 17, 2022, at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 149 Deer Hill Ave., Danbury.

Interment will take place at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Sunday, January 16, 2022, from 2 PM to 5 PM.

Contributi­ons in Mr. Vieira’s memory may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish or to Regional Hospice of Western CT, 30 Milestone Rd., Danbury.

All attendees are requested to wear a mask and or facial covering. Please wear a mask out of concern for the safety of all.
