Craft workshop available
The Institute for American Indian Studies is having “A Hoot of A Time @ (the) Institute for American Indian Studies: Make a Birch Bark Owl,” craft workshop on Sunday, with three time slots at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The event will be about how to make an owl out of birch.
Participants can sign up for one of the time slots. The workshop is perfect for children age 5 and up.
Children will learn about the environmental adaptations and cultural importance of owls to Native American communities.
The children will craft their very own birch bark owl. Children will also connect and learn from a culture that has thousands of years of history in the area where they live.
The lessons that can be learned from stories about owls and adaptations of owls will be a special highlight of the workshop.
The cost to participate is $15 for non-members of the institute, and $5 for members, including materials.
Masks will be required for all participants regardless of whether they have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Space is available per session, but is limited. Pre-registration is required.
