Police: Fentanyl and crack seized
DANBURY — A city resident was taken into custody Tuesday after an investigation into drug sales throughout Danbury led investigators to seize crack cocaine and fentanyl, according to police officials.
Detective Lt. Mark Williams said 24-year-old Anthony “Pablo” Abrahams, of Morton Street, was charged Tuesday with a variety of drug offenses after authorities served search and seizure warrants. The warrants stemmed from an investigation that focused on Abrahams’ alleged drug sales throughout the city following several civilian complaints, police said.
Investigators set up surveillance of Abrahams during the investigation and saw him meet up with suspected drug buyers at various locations, Williams said. He said Abrahams would “make an exchange and then leave the area within seconds.”
On Tuesday morning, investigators set up surveillance at Abrahams’ Morton Street home. Shortly before 5 p.m., Abrahams got into his car and drove off. He was apprehended after parking in a private parking lot several miles away, Williams said. During the arrest, he said, Abrahams briefly resisted before he was taken into custody.
During the arrest, investigators found a “substantial quantity” of narcotics packaged for sale, Williams said. As Abrahams was being detained, Williams said, investigators at his home went inside to execute the search warrant and found several ounces of crack cocaine and fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and several thousands’ dollars in cash.
Abrahams was taken to police headquarters and processed on two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and risk of injury to a child. His bond was set at $250,000.
