Barbara D. (Pooler) Esposito, 89, of Danbury, beloved wife of the late Donald F. Esposito, Sr., died peacefully at Glen Hill Center on Sunday, September 4, 2022. She was born in Danbury on December 8, 1932, daughter of the late Aldaine Pooler and Helen (McGrath) Pooler. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1950, and St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1953.

Barbara worked for 20 years as a private duty nurse. She retired as a head nurse for Fairfield Hills in 1994.

On October 2, 1954, Barbara married her grade school love, Donald. Together they created a beautiful life and raised 8 children. They “stayed the course,” and were married for 42 years.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmothe­r and greatgrand­mother, her happiest moments were spent with her family. She was always available and loved caring for her grandchild­ren. She also enjoyed reading and will be remembered for her love of practical jokes, especially on April Fool’s Day.

She will be sadly missed by her 8 children and their spouses: Donna and Laurence Ancker, Brenda and William Bourgeois, Donald F. Jr. and Dawn Esposito, Dean and Sharon Esposito, Cindy and Jim Meenagh, Linda and Joseph J. LoStocco, Laura and Michael Rizzo Sr., and Nancy and Ron Durkin; and her fourteen grandchild­ren and 9 great-grandchild­ren. She is also survived by her brother, Skip Pooler and his wife, Sandra; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 9th at 10:30am at St. Peter Church, Danbury.

In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, there will be No Calling Hours, and Interment in St. Peter Cemetery will be Private.
