Ann’s Place Festival of Trees celebrates 20 years
Ann’s Place, a communitybased cancer support center, will host the 20th annual Festival of Trees from Nov. 18-20 at The Summit in Danbury.
Ann’s Place helps those living with cancer and their loved ones. The Festival of Trees includes trees that are handcrafted by groups or individuals who donate them to the festival. People were able to register online before the Oct. 31 deadline to have the chance to donate a tree and have it displayed at the festival.
“You can theme your tree around a loved one, your favorite place, your business or even your favorite music group,” according to the organization’s website.
The event will feature decorated trees, shopping and raffles, live entertainment and a craft beer festival. The event also has face painting, make-and-take holiday crafts, coloring and a LEGO building for the kids to enjoy.
According to Ann’s Place, it takes over 450 volunteers to put together the Festival of Trees. There will be several vendors including, Danbury’s Pink Lemon, Newtown based, Bodhi Bear Apothecary and Hamden based, Happy Kimmie Designs.
At the craft beer festival also known as Taps & Trees, guests will be able to taste beer, enjoy pub grub food by Marketplace Restaurant and listen to live music by Billy Michael’s Christmas Cavalcade.
Over the last 19 years, the Festival of Trees has raised $3.85 million dollars to support area cancer patients, according to organization’s website. Ann’s Place has clinical social workers, facilitators and wellness experts to help provide a host of services to improve the quality of life for those experiencing cancer and after cancer. It relies on donations to be able to provide those services free of charge.
