Hartford HealthCare to expand outpatient services in Wilton
WILTON — Hartford HealthCare is expanding its outpatient services in Wilton Corporate Park, with the construction of a center that is scheduled to open next March.
The “multispecialty practice site” under construction in the existing building at 50 Danbury Road will become the new home of Soundview Medical Associates and Hartford HealthCare Medical Group, which are relocating about one mile north from 761 Main Ave., in Norwalk. Services at the approximately 26,000square-foot facility will include primary care, nephrology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, rheumatology and pulmonology.
Hartford HealthCare’s new center at 50 Danbury Road, which will have a staff of about 80 people, will complement its outpatient services in the adjacent building at 60 Danbury Road that include surgical and medical weight loss, general surgery, medical oncology, breast surgery, urology and movement-disorder care. The approximately 14,000square-foot center at 60 Danbury Road opened in November 2021 and has expanded its services in the past year.
“Hartford HealthCare is making care more accessible and convenient,” Karen Goyette, Hartford HealthCare’s executive vice president and chief strategy and transformation officer, said in a statement. “Our offices at 50 and 60 Danbury Road will provide patients with an array of services in one area. This means patients won’t need to travel to several locations to receive timely, coordinated care.”
Town officials said that they welcomed Hartford Healthcare’s growing local presence.
“Our central location, easy access to major and minor state roads, low daytime traffic volume and available former office space make Wilton an ideal location for the medical/ health care sector,” Wilton First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice said in an email. “We appreciate Hartford HealthCare recognizing this.”
Vanderslice also highlighted the health care sector’s increasing importance to Wilton’s economy.
“Beyond the sector’s contribution to the tax base, the sector helps support other businesses in town and allows our 18,500 residents and the 12,700 individuals working in Wilton to easily access high quality medical care,” Vanderslice added. “The latter is an important consideration for individuals and businesses as they decide where to invest.”
Among other developments at Wilton Corporate Park, the sale of 40 Danbury Road was announced last week. The transaction will not affect Hartford HealthCare’s plans.During the past two years, Hartford HealthCare has opened new outpatient centers and/or expanded services in Milford, North Haven, Fairfield, Westport, Shelton, Stratford and Oxford.
Hartford HealthCare’s acute care network encompasses Hartford Hospital, Backus Hospital in Norwich, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, MidState Medical Center in Meriden, St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport and Windham Hospital.
