Anne Marie Porco, age 90, of Newtown, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Midstate Medical Center with family by her side. She was the widow of her loving husband, Joseph S. Porco, who died in 1998. Anne Marie was born in Norwalk, CT in 1931, the daughter of the late Anne (Rose) and Fredrick Buckley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predecease­d by her sister, Ruth Whittemore; and twin brother, Neil Buckley. Survivors include her five children and their spouses: Karen Iliades (Chris) of Maine, Janet Taylor (Bill) of CT, Joyce Bennett (Wayne) of Costa Rica, Cathy Ramaciere (Mario) of Florida and Joseph Porco (Susan) of CT. In addition, “Gemma” as she was affectiona­tely known, is survived by 13 grandchild­ren, 20 greatgrand­children and 3 great-great grandchild­ren. She is also survived by her sister, Louise Frank, with whom she shared wonderful adventures, an enormous extended family of nieces and nephews and many close friends, some since childhood. She was proud of her large family and loved to brag about having five generation­s. Anne Marie was a graduate of Norwalk High School, a homemaker, a caregiver and devoted to her faith. She volunteere­d and supported others in numerous capacities throughout her life. She was a long-time member of St. Thomas Parish in Norwalk, where she was active as a Eucharisti­c Minister and then later, after moving to Newtown, CT, became a member of St. Rose of Lima Church. Anne Marie was extremely active for many years and loved to travel. She enjoyed coffee with the girls after water aerobics class at the YMCA. She loved animals, especially horses, and would often reminisce about her childhood pony, Buttons. The family would like to thank the MHC home health profession­als and St. Rose Parish who offered care and spiritual comfort to Anne Marie in her later years. Arrangemen­ts are under the care and direction of Honan Funeral Home, in Newtown, CT. Calling hours are Monday, November 28th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at 58 Main Street, Newtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 29th at 10:30am at St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown.
