Art sale and demonstration to be held

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown is hosting two events open to the public.

The organization, best known as SCAN, is offering a Small Works Art Show & Sale from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3 in the lower level of The Newtown Meeting House at 31 Main St.

Artist members of SCAN will feature small, original artwork, all 11 by 14 inches or smaller, for purchase at very reasonable prices. For additional information call 203-788-2817.

SCAN will also present Bonnie Johnson demonstrating Silk Aquatint Printmaking at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 at The Newtown Meeting House. The demonstration is open to the public and admission is free.

A graduate of the Silvermine College of Art in New Canaan and certified in Botanical Illustration from the Bronx Botanical Gardens, award-winning artist Bonnie Johnson finds she can capture “life’s intricacies” through printmaking. She taught art for many years at the University of Bridgeport and the Al Collins School of Graphic Design and Gibbs College.
