Sunny skies expected Monday with colder weather later in week
After Sunday’s rain, the weather is expected to be mostly sunny on Monday with a high of 54 near New Haven.
The weather is expected to be sunny into next weekend, with the exception of Wednesday, when showers are likely throughout the day.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for northern Connecticut on Wednesday, noting the possibility of high winds.
“A cold front may bring gusty winds of 40 to 50 mph Wednesday night into Thursday which may require wind headlines for some portions of southern New England,” forecasters said.
As of Thursday, about 47 percent of the state remained in a drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
On Nov. 8, the entire state was suffering from some level of drought, according to the monitoring service, but only by the lowest standard set by the monitoring group. About 89 percent of the state remained “abnormally dry,” officials said at the time — the least severe category of drought used by the group. The rest of the state remained in “moderate drought,” officials said.
