Poinsettias on sale to support Danbury-area nonprofits, scholarships

- By Julia Perkins

DANBURY — Boxes upon boxes of red flowers filled the Police Athletic League Building on Tuesday as volunteers readied thousands of poinsettias to be delivered to community members.

More than 100 members of the Woman’s Club of Danbury/New Fairfield organized the poinsettias, which had been purchased by residents and local businesses as part of the club’s sale.

This is the first time the club has held this sale since 2019 due to COVID-19. All proceeds are distributed to area nonprofit agencies and awarded as high school scholarships.
