Gary R. Gay, Sr.
Gary R. Gay, Sr., 71, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at home, surrounded by loved ones. Gary was born on August 14, 1951, in Danbury, CT to the late Francis and Anna (Kenney Gay) Coffey
Spending most of his youth in Danbury, CT, Gary left school and joined the United States Army. He was a member of the distinguished 101st Airborne Division. After competing two tours of duty in Vietnam, Gary was honorably discharged, beginning a new journey in his life as husband and father.
Throughout Gary's lifetime he was very active in various fife, drum, and bugle corps throughout the state of Connecticut and Vermont. He loved playing the drums, and the comradery and friendships he made along the way. Additionally, Gary was an active member of the Community Bible Chapel in Brattleboro, VT.
Gary was predeceased by his brother Francis Gay, Jr. and his sister Sharron Simao.
He is survived by his beloved children; Carrie-Ann Riendeau (Stephen),Gary Gay Jr. (Tammy), Theresa Gay, Steven Gay, and Josh Gay (Rikki), his cherished siblings; Doug Kenney (Linda),Darlene Lombardo, Debbie Hyde (Rocky), Audrey Coffey (Neal) and Melissa Coffey. Gary will be missed by eight loving grandchildren, 2 greatgrandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are welcome to gather on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, Brattleboro, located at 57 High Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. A memorial service will begin promptly at 2 p.m. Immediately following services, friends and family are invited to a memorial luncheon at the Community Bible Chapel, 107 Atwood Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301. Additionally, a Celebration of Life complete with a drum and bugle corps send off will take place Sunday, December 4, 2022, from 12 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Brattleboro VFW, 40 Black Mountain Road, Brattleboro, VT.
