Niles McBreairty

Niles McBreairty, 86, passed away after a long battle with dementia at home with family by his side. He was born in Allagash, ME. Niles was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956 and married Anne Gardner that same year before reporting for duty. He was stationed at several bases across the U.S. and spent much of his service in Germany during the occupation period. In the mid-1960s, Niles and Anne, relocated with their four children (Nila Taylor, Tammy MacGovern, Melvin McBreairty, and Jamie Baldwin) to Connecticu­t. In 1969 Niles and Anne founded their own family business, M & O Const. Co., Inc. in New Milford, CT. In the mid-1980s, Niles and Anne returned to Maine, settling in Guilford. And they embarked on developing property they owned in Greenville, until his illness began. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion.

Niles will be remembered for his dedication to his family, exceptiona­l hard work ethic, generosity, wit, and beautiful Irish-blue eyes. He enjoyed being trail-master for local clubs in Piscataqui­s County. Also, especially his time spent visiting with family and friends, snowmobili­ng, and 4-wheeling throughout the New England country sides.

Niles lived his life devoted to his wife Anne of 66 years; and their four children: Nila (and spouse Dennis), Tammy (and spouse Bob), Melvin (and spouse Annette), and Jamie (and spouse Doug); their grandchild­ren: Shane McKenney (and spouse Ashley), Austin McKenney (and spouse Heather), Sarah MacGovern-Watson (and spouse Rob), Jonathan MacGovern, Graham Baldwin, Brandon McBreairty, Danielle McBreairty, and Brooks Baldwin; and three great-grandchild­ren; and his brother Hilton (Mick).
