Three Christmas concerts will be held in Danbury on Sunday, Dec. 18.

Immaculate High School invites the public to attend its Sweet Sounds of Christmas Concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. Admission is free for this performance at the school’s Bobby Plumb Gym.

The Immaculate Music Department’s concert will feature a selection of pieces performed by the concert band, guitar ensemble, piano students, the Inspire Choir and the Junior Inspire Choir. There will also be a special spotlight featuring Immaculate’s seniors. Enjoy cookies and cider after the concert — plus meet a special visitor from the North Pole.

The Danbury Brass Band will present its free Christmas Concert of seasonal music from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 18 Clapboard Ridge Road.

Along with some seldom heard carols, there will be premiere performances of music by Morten Lauridsen, Alan Raph and Joseph Stamboni, as well as arrangements of music by Charles Gounod, Harold Arlen, Lennon & McCartney, Gian CarloMenotti and Ernest Adams. In addition, there will be season’s greetings from the Marionette, the Scarecrow and the Walrus.

An audience participation segment of “name that tune” entitled “Christmas in Blues” will include prizes to those guessing titles of songs worked into a “Blues” setting. In addition, a performance of a 12th-century carol “The Friendly Beasts” will take the listener through the various musical modes.

Meanwhile, King Street United Church of Christ will hold its annual Christmas Concert at 1 pm. Dec. 18 at 201 South King St. The concert features a variety of Christmas music from the church’s vocal choirs and soloists. Free admission.
