New Fairfield school employee accused of sexually assaulting student
NEW FAIRFIELD — State police arrested a New Fairfield Public Schools employee Monday on charges she sexually assaulted a juvenile student last month, officials said.
Andie Rosafort, 31, of New Fairfield, was charged with second-degree sexual assault, enticing a minor by computer and risk of injury to a minor, according to a news release from the State Police.
Rosafort and New Fairfield Superintendent of Schools Kenneth G. Craw did not return requests for comment. It was not immediately clear if Rosafort is being represented by an attorney.
State police officials said they began investigating Rosafort in midJanuary after a parent notified the school system of possible inappropriate contact between a district employee and their child’s friend, a student at New Fairfield High School.
During a police interview, the alleged victim told investigators they had been communicating with Rosafort for several months over social media, police said. The victim said they had received unsolicited sexually explicit images and videos of Rosafort, as well as messages asking for images of them, police said.
Police said the sexual assault charge stems from a Jan. 13 encounter during which Rosafort picked up the student from a gathering at a friend’s hom ein her SUV. Police said she then drove a short distance away from the home and had contact of a sexual nature with the minor while inside the car.
“According to the victim, they felt uncomfortable, exited the SUV, and immediately returned to the gathering at their friend’s house,” police officials wrote in the release.
Police said detectives searched the victim’s cellphone and found several screen recordings of videos from a social media platform containing explicit content and depicting an individual later identified as Rosafort. Investigators also obtained Rosafort’s cellphone data and records from her social media accounts.
Rosafort’s arrest comes nearly a month after Craw, the district superintendent, announced an unnam ed e mployee had been placed on administrative leave due to an allegation of inappropriate conduct while off-campus. At the time, Craw said the alleged misconduct involved “one or more explicit videos circulating within the community on social media.”
It is not clear if the employee who was placed on leave was Rosafort and if Rosafort is still employed by the school system. Craw did not return an email seeking comment Monday.
Police said Rosafort was charged by warrant, which was approved Friday. They said Rosafort turned herself in to state police custody in Southbury at around 8:50 a.m. Monday. She was briefly held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Danbury Superior Court on March 1.
