Anita R. Jones

-

Anita Rose Jones, 85, of New Milford, died peacefully in her home on January 15, 2024. She was born in Danbury CT, daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Donato) Marino on September 26, 1938. She grew up in Danbury and was a graduate of both St. Peter School and Danbury High School.

Anita married her sweetheart, William Jones, on July 26, 1961, and moved to New Milford, CT where they raised their three children. She was employed at the New Milford Hospital in the billing department for over 25 years until she retired in 2004.

Anita’s greatest joy in life was community, friends and family; especially being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking elaborate Italian dinners for those she loved, decorating for holidays and spending time together. She saw the funny side of any situation, and had a robust laugh to go with it. The closeness Anita had with her sisters taught her sons, by example, how important family is. She was wise and levelheaded, which led so many to come to her for advice. She enjoyed gardening, nature, puzzles, but most of all, spending time with her three grandchildren, whom she cherished.

Anita was predeceased by her parents, her beloved daughter Carrie Jones, and siblings Theresa Lobdell, Philomena Garcia and Peter Marino. She leaves her children, Michael Jones and his wife Tina, Steven Jones and his wife Kimberly Blais, grandchildren, Brady, Leah and Maya, sisters Elaine Potenziani and husband Nicholas, Marilyn Scalzo and husband Louis, brothers-in-law Phillip Jones and wife Diane, Ronald Lobdell, as well as many adored nieces and nephews.

The family will be arranging a special gathering to celebrate her life in the spring. Donations may be made in Anita’s memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
