Albert Uziel
Albert Uziel, 78, died on Jan. 22, less than a year after being diagnosed with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family in his beloved Brookfield home of 47 years.
Born in Istanbul to the late Natan and Claire Uziel, Albert earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Robert College (now Bogaziçi University) and two Master degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Aeronautical Engineering and Engineering Management. He worked at the same nuclear engineering company for 36 years, retiring in 2010.
In retirement, he was often recognized by neighbors while picking up garbage on his walks. He was also a dedicated volunteer for FISH of Brookfield and the Brookfield Food Pantry. He was a lifelong appreciator of classical music, architecture, and feats of engineering such as bridges and aircraft.
He enjoyed cooking, traveling, gardening, searching for Turkish rose jam, nurturing cats and plants, and doing all sorts of puzzles.
Albert was known by family and friends for his generosity and warmth. He is survived by his wife Barbara of 43 years, daughters Claire ( Josh Berner) and Sarah, granddaughter Avianna who was named after him, his brother “Uzi,” and a large extended family.
