Janeen Danielle Barr and Timothy James Kost would like to finally announce the birth of their son Rex David Qaqasuaq Ungalook Kost. He was born in Checker cab on the way to the ER 10:46 p.m. on March 3, 2022. He is now 10 months and 24 days. Rex's half-siblings are Melissa Mae Kost, 24, Joshua Charlie Kameroff, 20, Olga Ayaina Beans, 21, and William Levy Iyatunguk, 18.

His maternal grandmothe­r is Cynthia Barr of Nome and grandfathe­r the late John Gary Adsuna of Nome, his Tatta is Reggie Koomakak Barr of Brevig Mission. His paternal grandmothe­r is the late Kathy Kost of Nome and his grandfathe­r is William Iyatunguk of Deering.

Christine Aukon and Max Iyapana Jr., of Nome, are happy to announce the birth of their son Max Leo Iyapana III, on January 24, 2023 at 2:11 a.m. in Nome. Max weighed 7 lbs and 8 oz and was 19 ¼ inches in length. His siblings are Ernest Henry, 15, Daniel Henry, 13, Shirley Aukon, 11, Illiana Davenport, 9, Kenneth Henry Jr., 8, Zoe Aukon, 4 and Bella Aukon Iyapana, 17 months.

Maternal grandparen­ts are Danny and Barb Aukon Jr. of Nome. Paternal grandparen­ts are Max Iyapana Sr. and Anita Soolook of Nome.

Mollie Erickson and Beauryan “Bo” Best are proud to announce the birth of their son Adler Ray Best, on January 21, 2023 at 2 p.m. in Nome. Maternal grandparen­ts are Mitch and Vikki Erickson of Nome.

Honors

Tiana Nelson of Shaktoolik, AK was among the nearly 2,000 undergradu­ate, graduate and profession­al students conferred their degrees last month at the University of Iowa. Nelson was a student in the Graduate College whose program of study was Teaching and Learning. The degree awarded was a Master of Arts. Nelson and fellow graduates engaged, excelled, and stretched to reach their goals-often overcoming the obstacles created by a pandemic.
