Lois Janet Larsen

July, 1937 – Nov. 6, 2023 Lois Janet Larsen, was born on July, 1937, in White Mountain, AK. She was better known as Bunny. She passed away peacefully in Anchorage on November 6, 2023.

Bunny was raised in White Mountain.

She was a proud graduate of Mt. Edgecumbe High School. After graduation in 1957, she worked in Sitka for three years.

She was the first and only female telegraph operator in the state at the time. She then settled in Nome to raise her children.

Any time she was able, she very much loved to go to Cache Creek, put away fish, berry pick, beach comb, collect antique bottles, and spent time out in the country or on the river.

When she wasn’t outside, you would find her enjoying one of her favorite past times: crocheting, puzzling or playing bingo. Bunny was a loving mother and was happiest and most proud when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Having her family near her was so important. If you ever spent time with her, you would see the joy and excitement she had talking about her kids and grandkids. They were her whole world.

Bunny is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Jennie Kowchee, her brothers Pete, Fred, Mike, Joe Jr, Soup and Albert, along with her children Millie and Gordy.

She is survived by her children Joleen, Raymond, Randy and Isaac, along with her 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Our family is very grateful for all the help and support from everyone who came together to make this possible. We would also like to express a heartfelt thank you to Leann, who is Bunny's oldest granddaughter. She took that role with determination and love, and took care of Bunny through the good times and the bad.

Thank you for stepping up and comforting her through everything, even in her last moments.
