Nomeites generously give at Nome Preschool auction
The Rec Center was full of love last Saturday night as Nomeites gathered in the heart-adorned gym to support the Nome Preschool Raffle.
A silent auction and live auction were held throughout the night with prizes donated by local artists and businesses. During the auction Blake Bogart bid against himself for the horse-riding lesson at Golden Sands, getting his buying price from $150 to $250 all in the name of charity.
The main event, a raffle with noteworthy prizes like an Anchorage weekend getaway, round trip on Alaska Airlines, iPhone 15 and more began at 8:30 p.m. Buy in for the raffle was $20 per ticket with tickets being sold for month prior. Event organizer and manager of the preschool, Rebecca Luce and Lacey Sherman rattled off the names of the raffle prize winners to an excited crowd.
President of the Nome Preschool Association Board of Directors Bekka Bickford spoke during the event about the importance of this fundraiser for the Nome Preschool, a non-profit early education center. Currently three teachers are employed, but this year Nome Preschool will be bringing on another teacher.
