Anonymous writer was a ‘betrayer’
I note that Editorial Page Editor Jacqueline Smith did sign her Sept. 9 column on the anonymous sneak in the Trump administration (“Anonymity on the Opinion Page”), but I note also that she treated the sneak’s message as legitimate.
I consider any party who accepts a salary for doing a job while deliberately undermining the party who pays him, as simply not to be trusted (the sneak may even be violating a loyalty oath).
I strongly suspect that Smith just wanted to believe the betrayer and was tickled that he supported her conviction.
I strongly suspect The New York Times editorship of the same disposition and assume that that’s why they anonymously printed the betrayer’s message. Andy Burns Southbury
