Wilton colonial on a cul-de-sac

‘Airy and open’ four-bedroom on a 2.02-acre lot

The home at 2 Fox Run in Wilton is listed for sale with Annmarie Del Franco of Blackstone Properties of Connecticut. The asking price is $815,000.

The current owners acquired the property in 2009.

“The natural light inside of the home is what made us fall in love with this home,” the seller recalled. “The deal was sealed when we realized this home was in a real neighborhood, with a flat yard on a cul-de-sac, and that the house has a real mudroom with cubbies. The Nature Center as a neighbor was very appealing to us for hiking and exploring.”

The listing Realtor describes the 1984 colonial’s floor plan as “airy and open.” It affords 3,349 square feet of living space with hardwood flooring throughout the home, including in the kitchen.

“The kitchen floors are oak hardwood, tongue-and-groove style,” the seller said. “They were added as part of a major kitchen renovation. They closely match the original oak hardwood flooring that is in the rest of the home.”

A tour of the house begins in a two-story entry foyer. The sunken living room is brightened by skylights and a veritable wall of windows.

There are two wood-burning fireplaces in the home — one in the lower level and one off the master suite. The family room and living room, however, share a dual-sided gas fireplace.

The family room opens directly to the eat-in kitchen and breakfast nook. The current owners weren’t responsible for updating the kitchen — that was the work of previous owners — but they have appreciated the design and layout choices they made.

“The most popular room is the kitchen. It is the hub of activity,” the seller said. “Parties start and finish here. Homework, cooking and card playing have all been part of the kitchen activities. The family room off the kitchen is the place to be when we have a large crowd. It is large enough for a party and the ability to spill over onto the deck,

as the sliders give easy access. The large center island doubles as our buffet for our gatherings. We start every party with snacks there, and we finish with the ever-popular dessert display.”

The kitchen has granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, including double ovens. It opens out to a deck that overlooks the level yard spread out before it.

Naturally, this home also has a formal dining room right off the kitchen. A pantry, laundry and

mudroom completes the first level.

This home has four bedrooms, including the master suite, which has a vaulted ceiling, a new bath, walk-in closet and Juliet balcony. Adjoining the master is a home office with a fireplace. Three additional family bedrooms have access to a recently renovated hall bath on the second level.

A finished, walkout lower level adds even more living space with bonus rooms that could be leveraged for recreational, exercise or even fifth-bedroom space. The lower level also has a full bath.

In addition to updating the baths during their time here, the homeowners also put on a new roof and added ductwork and a new air-conditioning system.

The 2.02-acre lot, situated on a cul-de-sac, is beautifully landscaped, with organic vegetable gardens, patches of wildflowers and lush fruit trees.

The property is conveniently located near the town centers of both Wilton and Ridgefield. Woodcock Nature Center is also nearby.

There will be a public open house from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 16.
