NORWALK— A New York man allegedly attempted to use fake ID at Best Buy in Norwalk.

Police said officers were dispatched to Best Buy on Connecticut Avenue Tuesday morning after an employee called to report the incident. The employee said two men had just entered the store’s computer department and one had attempted to purchase a Best Buy credit card with a fraudulent Florida ID card.

Officers said police approached Christopher Reden, 23, of New York and Charles Anderson, 29, of New Jersey, in the TV department at the store. Police said both men refused to answer any questions, which prompted officers to detain the two.

During a search, officers said they found four driver’s licenses with different aliases in Reden’s wallet. Police said they also found three additional credit cards with different names in Reden’s wallet.

Reden allegedly told police all the identification cards belonged to him. Police said during an investigation, a detective confirmed the identification cards were fakes.

Reden was charged with three counts of second-degree forgery, three counts of third-degree identity theft, three counts of credit card forgery, one count of false statement to procure issuance of a credit card and one count of resisting arrest. His bond was set at $100,000 and he was given a court date of Oct. 31.

Anderson, who had a warrant for failing to appear in Orange County, N.J., was charged with failure to respond to an infraction. His bond was set at $92 and he was given a court a court date of Nov. 7.
