Old trol­ley tracks de­layed wa­ter main break re­pairs

NORWALK — Old trol­ley tracks found un­der the pave­ment dur­ing wa­ter main break re­pairs Thurs­day de­layed crews from mak­ing nec­es­sary re­pairs.

South Norwalk Elec­tric and Wa­ter said Wed­nes­day that there would be an emer­gency wa­ter shut­down on Thurs­day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to fix the wa­ter main.

The break hap­pened in the Roway­ton sec­tion of Norwalk and was ex­pected to leave houses be­tween 195 and 215 Roway­ton Ave. and houses be­tween 1 and 23 Cudlipp St. with­out wa­ter while re­pairs were un­der way. But around 3 p.m., the SNEW said re­pairs were tak­ing longer than ex­pected and would con­tinue un­til around 7 p.m. Thurs­day.

Shortly af­ter 6 p.m., SNEW said wa­ter was back on to all the af­fected cus­tomers.
