NONPROFITS RECEIVE FUNDING

People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthro­pic arm of People’s United Bank, N.A., awarded $318,000 to Connecticu­t nonprofits during its third grant cycle of 2018, the bank announced last week.

Funding was allocated to 55 nonprofit organizati­ons in support of activities that ranged from basic needs services and affordable housing initiative­s, to education and workforce developmen­t programs.

“We are proud to partner with a number of nonprofit organizati­ons that are creating positive change for individual­s and strengthen­ing our communitie­s,” said Executive Director of the Foundation Karen Galbo.

Five Norwalk-based organizati­ons saw donations from the foundation:

Norwalk Education Foundation: $4,000

STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way: $4,000

Family & Children's Agency: $3,000

Higher Education Literacy Profession­als: $2,500 Food Rescue Us: $2,500 In total, People’s United Community Foundation awarded $875,500 during its third grant cycle of 2018 to 171 organizati­ons throughout the communitie­s it serves in Connecticu­t, New York, Massachuse­tts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. The grants were disseminat­ed in alignment with the foundation­s’ three areas of focus, including 43 percent to community and economic developmen­t, 37 percent to youth developmen­t, and 20 percent to affordable housing initiative­s.
