2 charged with selling crack in Norwalk
NORWALK — A surveillance operation led to the arrests of a man and a woman for suspected crack sales across Norwalk on Sunday night.
The Police Department’s Special Services Division received information Sunday that Eric Henry, 32, of Mount Vernon, N.Y., was making drug transactions across Norwalk.
Officers set up surveillance in select spots of the city and caught Henry making multiple suspected drug transactions, police spokesman Lt. Terry Blake said.
Blake said police waited until Henry made one final sale in the area of Elmcrest Terrace, before swooping in to make the arrest.
Henry’s apprehension, however, did not go as smoothly as police had planned, Blake said.
“Approaching officers observed what they believed to be Henry consuming narcotics. He refused to open the doors, so they smashed the window out because he was destroying evidence,” Blake said.
Police said they did not recover any crack cocaine from Henry, but the other passenger in the car, Stephanie Briscoe, 27, of Windsor Road, Stamford, was found in possession of 3.8 grams of the drug. Police also recovered $684, three cell phones and a small amount of marijuana.
Henry was charged with sale of a narcotic, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, interfering with an officer and tampering with physical evidence. He was held on $100,000 bond.
Briscoe was charged with possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, possession of controlled substance and possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana. She was held on $50,000 bond. Both are to appear in court May 29.
