Video showing a car leaving a house in New Canaan after a breakin has led to the arrest of a Derby man and a Shelton woman in connection with five burglaries in New Canaan during August.

New Canaan Police arrested Daniel Perez, 34, of Seymour Avenue in Derby, and Alessandra Sillo, 33, of Coram Avenue in Shelton, on Friday, Sept. 6, both charged with five counts each of thirddegree burglary and conspiracy to commit thirddegree burglary; two counts each of sixthdegree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixthdegree larceny; one count of thirddegree larceny and one count of conspiracy to commit thirddegree larceny.

Bond was set at $150,000 each, and they were scheduled to be arraigned Monday, Sept. 9, at state Superior Court in Norwalk.

The pair were “prime suspects” in five burglaries in the northeast section of New Canaan during August, according to New Canaan police.

On Aug. 27, New Canaan Police released surveillance video from an August burglary on Mariomi Road that showed a dark Ford Mustang convertible with a lightcolored top leaving the scene.

As New Canaan detectives investigated the breakins, Wilton police shared information indicating that Perez and Sillo were possibly responsible for the five New Canaan burglaries.

Police from New Canaan and Shelton served a search warrant at Sillo’s Shelton residence Friday, Sept. 6. New Canaan police said officers found “numerous” items linked to burglaries in other area towns, including Norwalk.
