NORWALK — “Living Wisely and Well on Planet Earth.” That’s the theme of an environmental film and discussion series that will be taking place over four Fridays at the Norwalk Public Library, beginning week at 6:30 p.m.

“A Beautiful Earth,” an IMAX collaboration with Nasa that was filmed on the International Space Station, will be the first film displayed.

The film features stories of astronauts sharing their “reverence for the awesome beauty of the earth,” as well as their concerns about potential challenges and threats to the planet.

Each night, the films will feature a different theme about the environment and sustainability.

On Sept. 20, attendees will see “A Sustainable Lifestyle” and learn about how to be “stewards” of the Earth through reducing waste streams and saving energy. On Oct. 4, “The New American Lawn” will give attendees practical steps to both help save money and the environment through maintenance of outdoor landscapes.

The final film, on Oct. 11, “The Future of Eating,” explores the role food choices have on health and the planet.

Norwalk residents Diane Lauricella and Audrey Cozzarin organized the series, which will feature guest speakers to talk about the historic and future relationships that help predict what the world will look like. Those in attendance will be given steps and resources to help address environmental issues.

The series, which is family friendly, will also feature door prizes and popcorn for those who attend.

Each night, the events will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Norwalk Public Library on Belden Avenue and run until 8 p.m.
