Fotis Dulos says on TV that he hopes Jennifer ‘is going to show up; Tracing Fotis’ movements on the day his estranged wife went missing.
Estranged husband interviewed on ‘Dateline NBC’
NEW CANAAN — Fotis Dulos, the estranged husband of Jennifer Dulos and chief suspect in her disappearance, told “Dateline NBC” he believes his wife is alive — and hopes she’ll turn up to exonerate him of wrongdoing.
“I wish she were here to sort this mess out and I’m still hoping she’s going to show up,” Dulos told NBC’s Dennis Murphy in an interview that aired Monday night.
“She’s going to be at your door someday?” Murphy asked Dulos.
“Maybe not at my door, but at some door, yes,” Dulos said.
Murphy also asked Dulos if he had anything to do with his wife’s disappearance.
“I did not, but I’d like to leave it at that,” he replied.
Monday’s episode also featured interviews with New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski, friends of Jennifer Dulos, Fotis Dulos’ niece and his lawyer Norm Pattis.
The hourlong segment summarized the investigation into Jennifer Dulos’ disappearance on May 24 and recounted the couple’s contentious twoyear divorce case.
“There’s lots of pieces in the puzzle that haven’t been publicly disclosed and they won’t be until the time is right, but the puzzle is coming together nicely,” Krolikowski said of the case against Fotis Dulos and Michelle Troconis.
The chief said he anticipates more serious charges being filed in the case.
Asked about the possibility of filing murder charges if a body isn’t found, Krolikowski said, “I believe it’s unusual in Connecticut for that to happen, but not unheard of.”
Fotis Dulos said in his interview that Jennifer Dulos “was an excellent mother and I hope that she continues to be an excellent mother.”
“Nothing went catastrophically wrong,” he said of his marriage. “People sometimes grow apart. I’m not putting the blame on her or me, it just happens and it happens all the time.”
“There was never, never, never any violence, any abuse in any way,” he said. “Jennifer any I didn’t even really argue all those years.”
He said he was happy living in Farmington with Troconis and was looking forward to moving on.
“The divorce was the only thing that wasn’t a positive in my life and I couldn’t wait for it to be over with,” he said. “But right now my life is a mess and I absolutely had no desire or interest to be in this mess.”
He declined to answer a number of questions about the criminal charges filed against him, according to “Dateline.” But he said he’s been open with investigators.
“I have nothing to hide,” Fotis Dulos said. “The police said I didn’t cooperate with them. I actually went there and gave them my phone, willingly.”
The interview with Fotis Dulos was recorded before police arrested him and Troconis last week on new charges of tampering with physical evidence.
He will be arraigned on the new tampering with evidence charge Thursday at state Superior Court in Norwalk and is scheduled for his next pretrial hearing Friday in Stamford.
Troconis will be arraigned on the new charge Sept. 18 in Norwalk and will have her next pretrial hearing Sept. 20 in Stamford.
