TEAM OF THE WEEK

Fairfield field hockey: Stags improved to 5-0 in one-goal games this season with 2-1 victory over Providence on Sunday. Zoe Rosen made eight saves in a game in which Fairfield was outshot 21-8. Emma Matlach scored the game-winning goal on a penalty stroke. The Stags also topped Columbia 1-0 and are on a seven-game winning streak.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jimmy Slayton, Hartford: Senior goalkeeper from Wethersfie­ld made eight saves in shutout wins over Fairfield and Central Connecticu­t State. The Hawks’ men’s soccer team has posted four straight shutouts.

HOMETOWN FOCUS

Will Harned, Tufts men’s soccer: Junior goalkeeper from Darien has posted three straight shutouts for the top-ranked team in Division III. He has a goals against average of 0.55 with the help of junior back Biagio Paoletta, a former Fairfield Prep star who has started five games.

2: Consecutiv­e weeks that Bridgeport’s Amanda Hennerman has been named the ECC Volleyball Player of the Week. She averaged 3.4 kills, 1.9 digs and 0.4 blocks per set as the Purple Knights were 5-1 from Sept. 16-22.

3: Goals by Conn College field hockey freshman Abby Marchand in 4-1 win over Worcester State.

3: Wins over Division I teams by Division III Wesleyan men’s tennis doubles team of Princeton Carter and Noah Lilienthal to win the A flight title at the Quinnipiac Invitation­al. Carter also reached the A flight singles final.

6: Shots on goal by Bridget Condie in 6-0 win over Wagner for Yale field hockey team, which will host No. 16 Harvard on Saturday.

7: Games against ranked opponents for UConn field hockey program, including a 2-1 overall win at No. 6 Princeton on Svea Boker’s team-leading sixth goal of the season.

8: Consecutiv­e wins at the start of the season for Eastern Connecticu­t State men’s soccer team after 3-0 win over Elms on Tuesday. Patrick Agyemang of East Hartford scored his ninth goal of the season.

12: Career-high tying kills by Mary Sweet as Coast Guard women’s volleyball swept Mount Holyoke to extend its win streak to six matches.

34: Saves by Albertus Magnus freshman Mikayla Lyston, a field hockey program record, in loss to Saint Joseph’s (Maine) College.

77: Points Sacred Heart men’s hockey team received in Atlantic Hockey Preseason poll as Pioneers tied for third, the program’s highest since being picked to finish second in 2006-07.

913: Program record score for 54 holes by Quinnipiac women’s golf team in the Boston College Intercolle­giate event.

2020: Year that Eastern Connecticu­t State will offer men’s golf program. The Warriors had a golf program from 1961-1982 and are expected to play their home matches at Windham Club in North Windham.

Field hockey, Saint Anselm at New Haven, Saturday, 1 p.m.: Degree of difficulty is rather impressive for the Chargers, who follow up Wednesday’s game at No. 9 Adelphi by playing host to No. 4 Saint Anselm.

Men’s soccer, Yale at Central Connecticu­t, Monday, 6 p.m.: Unbeaten Bulldogs have already shut out UConn and Fairfield and take a 4-0-2 record into final game of season against Connecticu­t competitio­n.
