It bears watching who suits up for the Bulldogs on offense after All-Ivy lineman Dieter Eiselen and receiver JP Shohfi missed the opener. Notable: This is UConn’s first game of its last season in the American Athletic Conference.The Huskies are 0-6 in AAC openers. Since the creation of the AAC in 2014, UConn is 11-27 vs. league opponents. … UConn hasn’t beaten UCF since 2015, a year after Bob Diaco declared the Knights as his team’s rival. The Civil ConFliCT had a trophy — courtesy of Diaco — although UCF never acknowledg­ed the rivalry. Since Diaco’s imaginary rivalry, UCF has emerged as a nationally-ranked program while UConn’s program has struggled. … The Knights’ loss to Pittsburgh last week snapped a 27-game regular season winning streak. UCF’s last regular season loss came Nov. 26, 2017 to South Florida and its only loss over the past two seasons came to LSU in last year’s Fiesta Bowl. … This year, UCF is ranked 22nd in the country. Freshman quarterbac­k Dillon Gabriel has passed for 1,057 yards and 11 touchdowns with just two intercepti­ons. … UCF is averaging 47.2 points this season and have scored 30 or more points in 30 consecutiv­e games, the longest streak in the AP Poll era that began in 1936. … UConn is coming off consecutiv­e losses to Big Ten opponents (Illinois and Indiana). The Huskies were limited to 145 yards of total offense against the Hoosiers while surrenderi­ng 430 yards. … Freshman quarterbac­k Jack Zergiotis was limited to 90 yards in the air by Indiana. … UConn coach Randy Edsall said his team is healthy after a handful ofl starters — including defensive backs Tyler Coyle and Tahj Herring-Wilson, and linebacker D.J. Notable: The two teams enter this one with contrastin­g fortunes. Worcester St. has lost 10 straight games going back to last season while WestConn is looking to start 4-0 and compete for a league title . ... Bethel native Will Daniels continues to have a sensationa­l start for WestConn, and leads the MASCAC in receiving (335 yards, four touchdowns) . ... When the two teams met last season, the Colonials racked up 531 yards of total offense and committed zero turnovers. The Colonials will have a bye week after the matchup Saturday, then return home for two straight weeks. WestConn has won three straight in the series.

TRINITY at MIDDLEBURY

Notable: Trinity has won the past four meetings against Middlebury. … The reigning NESCAC champion Bantams dropped their season-opener to Tufts before bouncing back with a resounding win last week, as sophomore receiver DeVante Reid of London, England caught six passes for a school-record 246 yards and four touchdowns.

CURRY at COAST GUARD

Notable: Coast Guard is coming off a tough rivalry game loss to Norwich, which secured the win on a 26-yard field goal by Clyde Tamburro on the final play of the game.
