Trump expected to announce conservative Barrett for court
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is expected to announce Saturday that he is nominating Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court as he aims to put a historic conservative stamp on the high court just weeks before the election.
Trump said Friday he had made up his mind and it was “very exciting,” without giving away the name, aiming to maintain some suspense around his personal announcement. But the White House indicated to congressional Republicans and outside allies that the pick was Barrett.
“Well I haven’t said it was
for reasonable accommodations were for virtual teaching assignments. However, Norwalk was unable to offer any.
“While some districts may be offering a separate, virtual-only school where
that might work, NPS instructional models were designed for seamless transitions between in-person and virtual learning,” Wilcox-Williams said. “Students are assigned to teachers and classes, whether they are in-person, hybrid or virtual, and those teachers and classes will stay consistent, even in
the event of another full closure or if the student’s parents decide to switch.”
Of the 88 requests, 13 were granted for certified staff and three from noncertified staff. Another 18 staff members made the decision to take temporary leave or quit permanently after not being granted accommodations.
In August, the Board of Education approved the departure of over 20 staff members due to a mix of resignations, retirements and leaves of absence. They approved 11 more departures earlier this month.
Mary Yordon, president of the Norwalk Federation of Teachers, predicted back
in August more staff would leave once classes began.
Wilcox-Williams said the district has 42 active postings for roles including long-term substitutes, temporary positions, interns and specialty roles like a Chinese teacher.
“It would be wrong for people to get the impression that this means we are lacking in full-time teachers,” Wilcox-Williams said of the openings. “Like other districts, we typically have job openings throughout the year, and are always looking to build up our roster of substitutes. We recruit year-round.”
