A fair process

“Things just ain’t the same anytime the hunter gets captured by the game. Secretly, I’ve been trailing you like a fox that preys on a rabbit.” That was a hit single by the women’s group the Marvelettes. The song referenced man to woman as predator to prey. It spoke of gallantry. It spoke of chivalry. Fast forward to today and those very same words take on a different meaning — not a new meaning. It takes on its literal meaning. Serial sexual predator.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been caught in that light of being a sexual predator and has been asked to step down. He has been afforded neither law nor decorum. He has been stricken with cancel culture in his own party. However, not all are his detractors. The African American community has shown vigorous support. Former Congressman Charles Rangel said it was important that he turn to “family” which is the African American community. He said that Gov.

Cuomo should face a legal process instead of stepping down.

Two women in particular support him receiving justice that has been rendered to so many others in like positions. The head of the New York chapter of the NAACP, Hazel Dukes, refers to him as her son, and wants fair play to be awarded him. It’s the right thing to do. Marion Mills, a registered nurse for more than a half century, suggests that if it’s a cultural thing or an out-of-sync with time thing, he should be afforded help for his well-being as well as others. Ms. Mills also said the other thing people should look at is his vaccine help for his family. Whether it’s ethical or not, who among us would not try to protect our family from a lethal virus? Who would want that on their conscience?

Derek Chauvin had the most compelling evidence, the video recording of his crime. However, he still received a trial which is afforded by the United States Constitution. Gov. Cuomo, like him or not, should be afforded a fair process as well. Lest, we all will be in trouble.
