Arthur J. Goldblatt, of Norwalk CT, born 1934 in Brooklyn NY and died 10/2/2021 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Son of Augusta Fisher Goldblatt and Dr. Benjamin H. Goldblatt, a dentist.

Art attended public grade school and Neoteric High School. He then received a BA in History from Harvard College and went on to receive a law degree from Yale University.

From 1962-64, Art worked for a law firm in DC doing work for the New Haven Railroad. In 1964 he joined the Peace Corps and worked in Ethiopia for 2 years before returning to Norwalk CT, where his friend Bill Collins was living.

From 1966 Art set up a law practice in Norwalk, as well as doing real estate investing, with some emphasis on tennis courts. He continued to do this until 1977 when Bill Collins was elected mayor and Art was appointed corporation counsel. There he worked to bring ethics and social values to the town government.

Art hit his stride when he founded Norwalk Grassroots Tennis in 1995. This organization allowed Art to focus on what he loved most: helping others and playing tennis. He touched many lives through his work with NGT, helping children in need to get through high school and college and learn many life skills.

Art is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ann, his sons Alan and Ben, and his granddaughters Anyata and Isabel.

There will be services on Wednesday over Zoom. A future in-person celebration of Art’s life is pending, depending on Covid developments.
