Weston won its first two matches of the season in tough five-setters against Staples and Warde… The Trojans have been tested with five 3-2 victories… The Trojans’ offense is led by hitters Sydney Lyon and

Lauren Bigin, with Aimee Bunkoci anchoring the defense as the libero… Leia Pinals is the senior setter, with junior Kelly O’Carmody contributing in several categories… Seymour won a five-set match against Woodland for the NVL championship and has beaten its first three state opponents by a combined score of 9-1… The Wildcats feature setter Emma Rousseau, the MVP of the conference final, and outside hitter Kenzie Sirowich… Isabella Sand, Lauren Golebieski and Ari-Anna Smith are also difference-makers.

YOU SHOULD KNOW

The winner of the Class M final will be the state’s only unbeaten volleyball team… Seymour and Weston played in the 2018 Class M final with Seymour winning in four sets… Seymour is looking for its third consecutive state title… Weston has appeared in the finals four times, but has never won a championship… Both teams survived five-set matches in their conference finals, with Weston defeating Newtown in the SWC and Seymour defeating Woodland in the NVL.. The Wildcats have dropped just six including two in the NVL final… The Trojans survived a five-setter against SWC foe Joel Barlow in the Class M second round… Weston also defeated Woodland in four sets in the quarterfinals.
