Norwalk man found guilty of running CT drug ring
A Norwalk man faces up to 40 years in prison after leading an effort to sell drugs across the state, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for Connecticut.
Tajh Wiley, 26, also known as “Yung,” was found guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in New Haven of conspiracy to distribute, and to possess with intent to distribute, fentanyl, 500 grams or more of cocaine and marijuana, as well as possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, prosecutors said.
The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration's Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force into illegal narcotics activity led by Wiley, prosecutors said.
The investigation “revealed that Wiley conspired to distribute quantities of fentanyl, cocaine and marijuana and distributed drugs throughout Connecticut and elsewhere with the assistance of other associates,” prosecutors said.
Wiley, along with another man, JeVaughn Watson, 28, of Ansonia, were arrested in connection with the matter in June, officials said.
“In association with the arrests, investigators executed multiple search warrants and seized approximately a kilogram of fentanyl, a kilogram of cocaine, approximately 83 grams of crack cocaine, more than 12 pounds of marijuana, two press machines and other items and materials used by Wiley and his co-conspirators to process and package illegal drugs,” prosecutors said.
Authorities also seized more than $100,000 in jewelry and a 2021 Mercedes-Benz valued at approximately $146,000.
Watson was also found guilty Friday of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute, marijuana, prosecutors said. The offense carries up to five years in prison.
Both men are scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 12.
Officials noted the HIDTA Task Force includes personnel from the DEA Bridgeport Resident Office, the Connecticut State Police, and the Bridgeport, Norwalk, Stamford, Stratford, Milford and Danbury police departments.
