Martin Wolf
Marty (Morton) Wolf, 91, of Norwalk, Connecticut, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. He was married to the late Florence Wilstein Wolf, who passed away in 2019, and previously to Phyllis Schulley Wolf, who passed away in 1979.
Born in New York City on October 20, 1931, he was the son of the late Harry Wolf and Ethel Granat. He was patriarch to his siblings when both parents died when his sisters were still young.
He was a long-term resident of Norwalk, later living in Boynton Beach, Florida, before spending his final years at Wilton Meadows in Wilton, CT.
Marty attended Norwalk High School and Bryant College, and after his service in the US military, he worked all his life as an independent business broker. He was a lifelong member of Congregation Beth El in Norwalk, attending daily morning minyan as part of the “Minyannaires” group.
Marty loved his family and friends, loved travel, music, and especially dancing. He danced well into his 80s, only stopping when his knees would no longer support him. He was committed to Judaism, Jewish community and causes, and to Israel, and gave generously whenever he was able. He was known for his sense of humor and warm heart.
Marty is survived by his daughters and their spouses: Miriam Zeevi; Lisa Wolf and Yehuda Golani of San Francisco, CA; Jill Friedlander and Robert Hayduk of Norwalk, CT; Lee Friedlander and Lisa France of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by grandchildren, Emily Wolf and Ezra, Aviv, and Jordan Golani; and by his siblings, Faye Plum, Miriam Granat, Pearl Granat, and David Wolf.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 13, at Collins Funeral Home in Norwalk, CT. Burial followed at Beth El Memorial Park on Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marty’s memory may be made to Congregation Beth El in Norwalk, CT, or to the Jewish National Fund.
