PORTLAND, Ore. — For the first time in more than 10 years, the UConn men’s basketball team is a top-10 team.

The Huskies are ranked No. 8 in this week’s AP Top 25 poll, which was released on Monday at noon. UConn, the lone 8-0 team in the nation, jumped up from No. 20 after sweeping Oregon, Alabama and Iowa State en route to the Phil Knight Invitational championship this weekend.

It’s the first time UConn has been ranked this high in the poll since Jan. 7, 2012, when it was ranked No. 8. Losses at Seton Hall and Rutgers that week dropped the Huskies to No. 17 the following week, and three weeks later they were unranked altogether.

The last time UConn was ranked in the top five was Nov. 26, 2011, when it was No. 4 in the nation.
