What we voted for
In a recently published letter, someone enumerated the “things he didn’t vote for,” a tiresome laundry list of right-wing talking points that were soundly repudiated by the electorate of this state. Here is what the majority of Connecticut citizens did vote for:
maintaining and preserving democracy by acknowledging that elections have been — and will continue to be — free and fair;
assuring the ongoing rights of women to control their own bodies and destinies as well as those of people to love whom they choose;
reelecting an incumbent governor who has kept the state on a positive course with his diligence through the pandemic and beyond;
keeping a senator who is a strong voice for the state and nation in place as opposed to an extremist radical who did not reflect our values;
rejecting the fear-mongering about crime (which has actually dropped) and the imaginary issues about our educators.
No one likes higher prices for fuel and other necessities but we recognize that they are a global issue and are being addressed.
