Demetria “Demmy” Michailides Jordanides

November 21, 1930 - December 2, 2022

Demetria “Demmy” Michailides Jordanides, 92 of Norwalk passed away peacefully on December 2, 2022 with her entire loving family by her side. Demmy was born November 21, 1930 in Sparta, Greece to Theophilos and Olga Michailides.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Joseph “Joe the Greek” of 43 years and by several sisters and brothers. She is survived by her children Roula J. Bellairs (Michael), Olga Caruso ( Joe), George Jordanides (Karen), Phil Jordanides (Carol). She is also survived by her 10 loving grandchildren, Michael Bellairs, II (Bruna), Jordan Bellairs, Joey Caruso (Melisa), Deanna Wood (Ned), Matthew Caruso, Theo Jordanides, Delia Jordanides, Zoe Jordanides (Dario), Jack Jordanides, Hannah Jordanides and many loving nieces and nephews. She was twice blessed to have recently become a great-grandmother to Mia Caruso and the knowledge that her greatgrandson will be born in December.

Demmy was a dedicated employee for many years at both The Holson Company and C. R. Gibson.

Demmy was well known (almost famous) to all of West Norwalk for her daily 3 to 4 mile walks. She was an avid gardener; especially loved to plant her beautiful array of flowers. She was a great cook and baker and baked cookies for everybody she knew. Her most prized possession were her 10 grandchildren. Every one of her grandchildren cherished and adored their Yiayia.

Our mother and father achieved the American dream; having been able to raise, provide and give us all the opportunities that are available in America. Our “Momma and Yiayia” was very much loved and will be greatly missed.

Friends are invited to St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks Road, Norwalk to greet the family on Wednesday December 7, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 A.M. followed by entombment at St. John’s Mausoleum, 223 Richards Ave. Norwalk, CT.
