- By Maggie Vanoni

After falling to then-No. 7 Notre Dame Sunday in South Bend, the UConn women’s basketball team fell three spots to No. 6 in Monday’s AP Top 25 Poll.

South Carolina remained No. 1, followed by Stanford, Ohio State and Indiana. Notre Dame moved up to fifth after beating UConn.

The Huskies’ 74-60 loss to Notre Dame was its worst in the rivalry since 2004 and marked UConn’s first loss of the 2022-23 season.

Star sophomore Azzi Fudd only played in the first half after suffering an apparent knee injury at the end of the first quarter. Lou Lopez Senechal led UConn with 21 points followed by 14 points from Aaliyah Edwards and six rebounds from both Nika Muhl and Aubrey Griffin. Muhl finished the game with five assists, snapping her fourgame streak of recording double-figure assists.

Graduate forward Dorka

Juhasz missed her fifthstraight game on Sunday as she continues to rehab from breaking her left thumb during UConn’s game against Texas on Nov. 14.

UConn coach Geno Auriemma said he guesses Fudd will be available for the team’s next game on Thursday against Princeton. The Tigers are coached by former Husky standout Carla Berube.

Auriemma said Juhasz’s availability will be determined by how she practices during the week.
