William M. Wanat, 73, devoted husband of 35 years of Judith (Gudzik) Wanat, died Monday, November 28, 2022. Bill lived in Westport until his marriage, after which he and Judith made their home in Southport. He owned and operated William Wanat, Inc., General Contractor­s until his retirement. Bill was a longtime member and past Treasurer of the Ukrainian American Club of Southport. He will be fondly remembered as a Long Lots School crossing guard who would often be seen driving around town in his vintage Cadillacs. Bill is also survived by his brother, George Wanat, Jr. of AZ, and was the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews, most especially Jeanmarie and Sasha. He was predecease­d by his parents, George and Mary (Kondub) Wanat, his brother, John Wanat, and sister Arlene Sabia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 10 at 11 am in St. Luke Church in Westport. Committal will be in Willowbroo­k Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made in Bill’s memory to St. Luke Parish. Arrangemen­ts are in the care of the FAIRFIELD FUNERAL HOME of EDMUND W. DOUGIELLO, 36 South Pine Creek Road.
