Crack, fentanyl, other drugs seized during bust, Norwalk police say
NORWALK — Two people were charged with an array of offenses Wednesday after searches turned up narcotics, credit cards and fake IDs, among other illegal items, according to local police.
Sylvester Edward, 34, and Hilary Guillen, 28, both of Leuvine Street in Norwalk, have been under investigation by law enforcement agencies for four months, Norwalk police said. Police described Edward as a seven-time felon who has been arrested more than 20 times since 2007.
While executing search and seizure warrants Wednesday, investigators recovered approximately 39 grams of powder cocaine; approximately 60 grams of crack cocaine; approximately 166 grams of pure fentanyl; and approximately two pounds of marijuana, police said. Other items recovered included credit cards and forms of identification in false names; packaging material, blenders, scales and narcotics paraphernalia; 14 cellphones and numerous tablets, printers and laptops; a 2018 Jeep Cherokee; and approximately $3,569 in cash, according to police.
Both Edward and Guillen were charged with numerous drug offenses, including possession of greater than five ounces of cannabis; illegally selling or manufacturing cannabis; and conspiracy to illegally sell or manufacture cannabis, police said.
In addition to the drug offenses, Edward was also charged with interfering with an officer/resisting arrest; two counts of simple trespass; interfering with a search; risk of injury to a child; first-degree forgery; and two counts of operating a motor vehicle under suspension, according to police. His bond was set at $752,000, police said.
Guillen was also charged with first-degree forgery and risk of injury to a child, according to police. Her bond was set at $150,000.
Both Edward and Guillen are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 4, police said.
